Nectar Sleep

Working as a freelancer in 2018/2019, I joined the Nectar Sleep/Dreamcloud product design team to help improve the e-commerce experience across their mattress brands. My focus was on reducing checkout abandonment, running A/B experiments, and building reusable design patterns that could scale across both brands.

Impact

At Nectar Sleep and DreamCloud, I designed end-to-end web and mobile experiences for two fast-scaling DTC mattress brands. My work on checkout flows, promotional pages, and product detail pages contributed to measurable improvements in conversion rates and helped establish a more consistent design language across both brands.

Work Process

Improving Checkout Abandonment

My approach centered on mapping customer behavior through the checkout funnel and identifying where users were dropping off. From there, I partnered with product and data science to design and test solutions.
• Ran A/B experiments on checkout page layouts, upsell placement, and delivery options to reduce cart abandonment
• Built reusable UI components for promotional banners, add-on modules, and trust signals used across Nectar and DreamCloud
• Designed targeted email campaign templates tied to abandonment triggers
• Worked closely with engineering to ensure experiments could be deployed quickly without full redesigns

Work Process

Promotional Iteration

This work led to more consistent experiences, faster design cycles, and higher-quality experiments. The design-system libraries reduced drift and improved implementation accuracy. Integrated email-to-product campaigns strengthened user continuity, and many tested improvements drove increased engagement and conversion across key shopping flows.

Towards the end of my time at Nectar Sleep, I was part of the redesign of the primary product description pages. Leveraging the new UI design system being built in Figma, our goal was to refresh the brand-feel like making product descriptions more engaging.
Additionally, business goals drove the need to bundle and promote add-on product purchases to the user purchase flow. PDP imagery was also coordinated to change to match promotional marketing assets during sales events.

The previous product description page, lacked strong visuals, and consistent UI.

Refreshed imagery and UI can still be seen today in Nectar's brand language.
